THE REPUBLIC'S justice minister Helen McEntee has given birth to a baby boy.

A Department of Justice spokesperson said the baby was born in the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin this morning.

The spokesperson added that both Ms McEntee and the baby were doing well.

"The minister and her husband Paul are delighted with the new arrival," the spokesperson said.

In 2021 following the birth of her first son, the Fine Gael minister became the first member of the southern government to give birth and take maternity leave while in office.
