KATIE Taylor has described the possibility of a rematch against Amanda Serrano in Croke Park as "absolutely phenomenal".

Almost immediately after Taylor (35) beat the Puerto Rican fighter in New York, speculation began mounting that the Dublin venue could host the rematch.

Promoter Eddie Hearn also name-checked Croke Park rather than the Aviva Stadium as a potential venue.

He said Taylor was "one of the greatest things to ever come out of Ireland", adding that it would be "a big shame" if she did not get to fight on home soil.

In the toughest bout of her professional career, the Bray fighter took her professional record to 21-0 at a sold-out Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

"Everybody was talking about this as the biggest fight in women's boxing history, but I think it actually exceeded everything that people were talking about.

"This was a special, special moment. It was the best night of my career. I wasn't sure if anything could reach my Olympic gold medal moment but that was absolutely the best moment of my career."

With the debatable result, a rematch was mooted straight after the fight with hopes high that Croke Park could be the venue allowing Taylor her first professional fight in Ireland.

"The rematch would be absolutely phenomenal and if it was in Dublin, we could sell out Croke Park," Taylor said.

"That would be unbelievable. We've seen something special here. Imagine fighting in front of 80 or 90,000 people at Croke Park. Absolutely, that can happen.

Serrano's manager Jake Paul also appeared to be in favour of the rematch being held in Dublin

"They came to New York City. If there is a rematch, it makes sense to go as a team to Ireland," he said.
