A postmortem is to be carried out in the next few days after a man's body was pulled from the water in Dun Laoghaire.

The man, in his forties, was found at Dun Laoghaire beach at around 10pm on Tuesday.

He was later pronounced dead at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin.

Gardaí are investigating. However, officers are not treating the death as suspicious.

The man is the latest person to die in Irish waters.

A total of nine people died in swimming-related fatalities across Ireland in just one week in July.
