A newlywed couple from Belfast have asked Pope Francis to pray for peace.

Caroline and Ryan Feeney, who married at St Patrick's Church on Donegall Street in Belfast earlier this month, were among 370 newlywed and about-to-be married couples who attended the Pope's visit to Dublin's Pro Cathedral this afternoon.

The couple said Pope Francis asked them to pray for him too.

Mrs Feeney is a former SDLP adviser.

Mr Feeney is a former head of community and public affairs at the GAA's Ulster Council and now works at Queen’s University. He is also a member of the Policing Board.
