POPE Francis is to greet crowds in Dublin city centre on Saturday afternoon.

Pat Leahy, Assistant Garda Commissioner, told RTÉ radio this morning the pontiff will travel through city centre streets at around 4.15pm.

The popemobile will move up O'Connell Street, Westmoreland Street and Dame Street, giving around 100,000 people the opportunity to see him.

Pope Francis will then make a private visit to the Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People in the city.

Brother Kevin Crowley founded the centre more than 40 years ago.
