A 59-year-old man arrested by police investigating the attempted murder of two PSNI officers in Strabane has been released following questioning.

The man was detained under the Terrorism Act in Strabane on Thursday morning. The arrest was in connection with an investigation into a bomb attack in the Mount Carmel Heights area of Strabane on November 17, 2022.

Following Thursday's arrest, the man was taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite in Belfast for questioning, before he was later released.

A PSNI spokesperson said the man will also be reported to the Public Prosecution Service for an offence relating to the investigation, adding: "The investigation continues."
