Individual taken to hospital following Belfast city centre collision involving bus

One person remains in hospital following a collision involving a bus in the middle of Belfast city centre on Monday.

The injuries to the individual are not believed to be life threatening.

The NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) said it received a 999 call at 8.58am on Monday following the accident in Donegall Square West.

"NIAS despatched one emergency crew, one rapid response paramedic and one doctor to the incident,” the service said.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, two patients were taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital by ambulance.”

The PSNI said one person was in hospital on Monday afternoon. Police remained at the scene for several hours and warned drivers of possible delays.

Translink said: "Due to an RTC Donegall Square West in Belfast City Centre is closed.

"All services which use the stops here will be picking up at the Metro 12 stop in Donegall Square North until further notice."
