One man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another was hit by a vehicle in Newtownards.
The incident happened in the Old Shore Road area at about 11.45pm on Saturday.
Police received a report that a man in his 40s was deliberately struck by a vehicle before the driver made off from the scene.
A PSNI statement said: “The man was taken to hospital for treatment to leg injuries which are believed to be serious, but not life threatening.”
Shortly after the incident, a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a number of driving offences.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
They are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a silver van in the area between 11.30-11.45pm.
