Man (68) released on bail following arrest for alleged bleach attack in Coleraine

A 68-year-old man arrested in Coleraine on suspicion of pouring a bottle of bleach over another man has been released on bail.

The assault in the Church Street area of the town centre was reported around 2.20pm on Wednesday.

A man was said to have entered a shop to buy a bottle of bleach, before pouring the contents over a man in his 20s in the nearby area.

First aid had been provided to the man at the scene, but hospitilisation was not required.

The alleged attacker was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, using corrosive with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and attempted bodily harm with intent.
