Guinness has been named the most popular beer in the US following a recent survey.

A poll among American drinkers by YouGov saw the famous Irish stout top the survey with 58 percent of participants liking the beverage.

It was followed by Corona in second place - a lager brewed in Mexico - and in third by Dutch lager Heineken.

The remaining seven places in the top 10 list are held by US beers.

The Bud Light beer fell out of the top 10 compared to a YouGov list compiled in 2022 after it became the target of a campaign by US conservatives over the brand partnering with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

Meanwhile, another Irish stout, O'Haras, which is brewed by the Carlow Brewing Company, was placed 62nd on the popularity list.

Guinness, which is owned by Diageo and is brewed in Dublin for the Irish and UK market, also operates a US brewery in BaltImore, Maryland.
