THE first picture has emerged of the Co Tyrone man whose body was recovered from the sea at the Sliabh Liag cliffs in Co Donegal.

Robin Wilkin, also known as Robert, was in his 60s and his body was found at the popular tourist area close to Killybegs on Monday.

The former lorry driver is at the centre of a serious assault investigation by Gardaí in Co Donegal.

Gardaí are investigating claims he had been thrown from the cliffs after being struck on the head following a row.

The discovery of his body on Monday was the culmination of a large-scale search operation at Sliabh Liag involving agencies including the Irish Coast Guard.

A man and a woman have been arrested as part of the Gardaí investigation, before both were released without charge.

Mr Wilkin had been due to appear in court later this year on drug smuggling charges.

He had been stopped in a lorry at a Channel Tunnel terminal in France in August 2021, and a search of his vehicle uncovered 63kg of heroin and 32kg of cocaine concealed among pallets of chocolate.

The drugs had an estimated street value of £5.7m, and Mr Wilkin had been due to stand trial in October.
