Police have launched a criminal investigation over the disappearance of 21-year-old Chloe Mitchell, who they are treating as “a high-risk missing person”.
Issuing an update on Friday afternoon, Mid and East Antrim District Commander, Superintendent Gillian Kearney said: "I am appealing directly to Chloe to make contact with the police, family or friends so that we know you are safe and well.
"I am also asking the public to contact us if they have seen Chloe. I know she was last seen by family on Friday, June 2, and then she is captured on CCTV in Ballymena Town Centre in the late hours of Friday, June 2, into the early hours of Saturday 3. She was walking in the direction of James Street.”
She added that police were becoming “increasingly concerned” for her safety.
“It is completely out of character for her to not be in contact with her family, who are being supported by specialist officers during this worrying time,” she said.
"We have launched a criminal investigation into her disappearance and we are examining a number of scenes.”
A 26-year-old man arrested in Lurgan on Thursday remains in police custody assisting with their enquiries.
The public have been urged to look at a photograph of the missing woman, who was last seen wearing a green and black Northface style jacket, a white t-shirt, leggings and Nike trainers.
Thanking the public and search and rescue teams for their help so far, Ms Kearney urged anyone with any information to call police on 101 , quoting reference 2262.
Information can also be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Among those assisting police since Thursday have been the Community Search and Rescue team and K9 Search and Rescue.
Search areas have included a property near to Ms Mitchell’s last known whereabouts as well as a steep embankment by the Braid River.
