Two petrol bomb attacks are being linked to an ongoing feud between loyalist drug gangs in north Down.

The attacks, on a house and a car, happened late on Monday in Newtownards, the latest in a series of incidents linked to the feud between the rival gangs.

Over the last several months, multiple vehicles have been torched, petrol bombs thrown and other damage caused to properties.

Detectives are appealing for information following the attacks late on Monday in the Bristol Park and Weavers Grange areas.

“Shortly before 11:10pm, it was reported that a petrol bomb was thrown through a window of a property located in the Bristol Park area," the PSNI said.

"All of the occupants were safely removed from the building and there were no reports of any injuries." There was some scorch damage to the front living area.

Shortly before 11:45pm, police received a report of the second petrol bomb attack on a car parked in the Weavers Grange. The vehicle was destroyed before the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service extinguished the blaze.

“Enquiries are continuing and at this stage, we are investigating a potential link between these incidents and the ongoing feud between rival drug gangs across Ards and North Down," the police said.

A petrol attack was carried out on a property in Weavers Grange earlier this month.

The attacks followed another sometime late on Sunday, early Monday, in Dromena Gardens. Damage was caused to the windows and front living room of the property.

Then on Tuesday at around 3.35am damage was caused to a silver car in the Carmeen Gardens area of the town. A white van also parked nearby was also damaged.
