Pierce Brosnan has celebrated his milestone 70th birthday.

The former James Bond star marked the occasion on Tuesday with a celebratory meal in Malibu with his wife Keely Shaye Smith, and mother May.

Brosnan, who played 007 in four films - the last being 2002’s Die Another Day, was seen arriving for dinner Nobu in Malibu.

The actor has recently been filming his latest movie, Four Letters of Love, in Ireland.

The romantic comedy, based on the best-selling novel by Niall Williams, also stars Helena Bonham-Carter and Gabriel Byrne.

Brosnan had been spotted in various places filming, including the Shandon Hotel Spa in Dunfanaghy and in the Salthouse Hotel in Ballycastle.

During a break from the shoot in March, the Navan man popped in to the highest bar in Ireland, The Ponderosa.

He posed for photographs with staff and customers in the Glenshane Pass bar, as he journeyed around the island.

Brosnan also filmed in Ireland last year for The Last Rifleman, starring as a WWII veteran who leaves his care home to attend the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings in France.

Just last weekend, Brosnan unveiled his first solo art exhibition, entitled 'So Many Dreams,' which debuted in Los Angeles.

The collection of works is comprised of various paintings, drawings and a short documentary, among others.

He shared several images from the gallery on his Instagram account.

In a recent interview for FM104 in London at the premiere of the DC movie Black Adam, Brosnan talked up his home town of Navan.

"I'm the first superhero from Navan can you believe that?" he said.

"Navan is deep in my heart. On the banks of the Boyne there across from the town where my grandfather, god bless him, built a lovely little bungalow.

"I don't know if it's still there. I'm going to go back there I am doing another film here in a few months so I'll go back home."
