A children's sci-fi TV show filmed on location in the north is returning to screens for a new series next week.

Silverpoint, which was nominated for a BAFTA Children & Young People Award last year, will return to screens next Wednesday, when it will be aired on the CBBC channel and also available on BBC iPlayer.

The show tells the story of a group of friends at a summer camp who embark on an adventure to discover the truth about an alien artifact they find buried in a forest.

Among the young stars of the show is Newry actress Aoife Hughes.

Funded by NI Screen, the show is produced by Zodiak Productions UK, and creative director Cheryl Taylor said of the new series: "Our well-loved characters face new challenges and their friendship is further tested as this unique sci-fi mystery develops.

"With stunning production values and a supremely talented young cast, we are confident that Silverpoint series two will be essential viewing for young viewers and their families.”
