THE cause of a blaze at a former hotel in Enniskillen town centre is thought to be deliberate, firefighters have said.

The fire in the old Railway Hotel at Forthill Street was reported shortly after 4.30pm on Monday.

Motorists were diverted away from the area by police as fire crews arrived.

The 20-bedroom property, which was placed on the market in 2018 following closure, had previously operated for over 130 years.

A spokesperson for the NI Fire and Rescue Service said four pumping appliances and an aerial appliance was used to tackle the blaze.

NIFRS crew commander Danny Ard said the fire was dealt with just before 6.10pm, adding: "The cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate."
