TWO men questioned by police investigating the activities of the New IRA have been released from custody.

A 38-year-old man was released unconditionally, while a 47-year-old man was released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

It is understood the arrests were part of ongoing investigation into the activities of the New IRA, including a security alert in Derry's Fahan Street area on March 14 last year.
