A former police officer has denied having indecent images of children.

Standing in the dock of Antrim Crown Court, 31-year-old Stefano Cassidu entered not guilty pleas to each of the 14 charges against him, all alleged to have been committed between October 27 2017 and September 24, 2020.

Cassidu, with an address at Knock Road PSNI, faces six charges of having extreme pornographic videos and eight charges of making or possessing indecent images and videos of children.

Following the brief arraignment, defence counsel Neil Moore told the court the two electronic devices seized by investigators had been sent to an expert for examination and the defence would be lodging a report arising from that in due course.

Freeing Cassidu on continuing bail, Judge Alistair Devlin said he would review the case on April 17.
