TWO men have been arrested after police chased a vehicle that was eventually stopped using a stinger device in north Belfast.

Officers had attempted to stop a vehicle in the Doagh Road area of Ballyclare at around 3.10pm, as it was believed to have been involved in reports of theft in north Belfast earlier in the day.

The Citroen C3 car failed to stop and was pursued to the Ballysillan Park area, where officers deployed a stinger device.

The car's occupants, a 36 and 37-year old, were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including two counts of theft, dangerous driving, and failing to stop for police.

They remained in police custody last night.

A number of items were also recovered from the vehicle by police.
