Manslaughter charge after death of 53-year-old in Omagh

A MAN has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 53-year-old in Co Tyrone. 

Police last said that detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team have also charged the 20-year-old with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

He is expected to appear before magistrates today.

The charges relate to an investigation into the circumstances surrounding a man’s death in Omagh on Sunday night.

Officers responded to an incident shortly before midnight after receiving reports of a man armed with a machete outside a house in the Slievecoole Park area of the town.

Police said father-of-three Paul Brown (53) was administering first aid at the scene but died a short time later.

Another man was also taken to hospital for treatment to injuries to his hand.

The 20-year-old is expected to appear before Dungannon Magistrates’ Court today.
