A MOTORCYCLIST left in a critical condition following a crash in Co Tyrone last month has died.

David Gilmore, from Portadown's Carrick Road area of Co Armagh, was critically injured following a collision with a car on the A5 road close to Beragh on September 17.

He had been taken to hospital following the crash, with emergency services including the Air Ambulance assisting at the scene.

Police had appealed for information on the collision, urging witnesses or those with dash-cam footage to contact them.

It was confirmed that the father-of-one died on Sunday at Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital.

A death notice described Mr Gilmore as the "beloved husband of Suzanne, father of Derek" and said he was a "much-loved husband, father, father-in-law, grandad, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend".

The notice states that funeral arrangements for Mr Gilmore are private, and urged donations to the NI Air Ambulance in lieu of flowers.

Tributes were posted online to Mr Gilmore, with friend Bobby Hutchinson describing him as "one of life’s gentlemen and one of the nicest men I have ever met" in a social media post.

His death follows a fatal crash on the A5 last Wednesday that claimed the life of a man in his 80s after his car collided with a lorry.
