A record 4,701 daily Covid-19 cases have been confirmed by the Department of Heath today.

A further three patients who had previously tested positive for the virus have died, the department said.

The total number of deaths since the pandemic began now stands at 2,979

This morning, there were 303 Covid positive patients in hospital, of whom 32 were in intensive care. Of these, 24 are on ventilators.

There are six unoccupied ICU beds in the north while 94 per cent of hospital beds are occupied.

Ahead of today's figures being released, it was confirmed no new Covid-19 restrictions are to be introduced by the Stormont Executive.

First Minister Paul Givan said the Executive will continue to assess the data as more information emerges as he also confirmed changes to self-isolation rules.

Mr Givan said the self isolation period for positive cases "will reduce from 10 days to seven days, subject to negative lateral flow tests on day six and seven.
