Irish man-band Westlife have announced details of a new tour next year - but with no dates in Northern Ireland.

Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Nicky Byrne and Kian Egan yesterday announced that the Wild Dreams tour would begin in Dublin on July 8, 2022.

The tour will continue to Scarborough, London, Cork, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, Liverpool, Birmingham, London and Nottingham. It will finish in Cardiff on December 11.

At a press conference yesterday, the band said they were "incredibly excited to announce (the tour) and to finally get back performing to all of our fans at the UK’s and Ireland’s biggest venues.”

However, the announcement was met with shock and disappointment among their fans in the north.

In August, the band played a BBC Radio 2 gig at the Ulster Hall in Belfast, with 67,000 people applying for a small number of tickets.

Westlife had previously played numerous back to back concerts at the Odyssey area in Belfast.

On Twitter last night on fan asked: "Why no Belfast. Very disappointed especially given the support from Belfast in the past".

Another added: "I can not believe I can't see a Belfast date".

A further comment read: "Seems like Westlife have forgotten Belfast exists...".

Fans remain hopeful that further dates will yet be announced.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, November 5 at 8am from Ticketmaster.ie
