A 65-year-old man was arrested in Co Tyrone by police investigating the activities of the New IRA.

Police said the man was detained in the Dungannon area yesterday by detectives from the PSNI Terrorism Investigation Unit.

A PSNI spokesman said: "The arrest, is part of Operation Arbacia, our ongoing investigation relating to the activities of the New IRA and is specifically looking at their finances.

"This arrest is a continued demonstration of our commitment to use all tools at our disposal to reduce the threat posed by violent dissident republicans and I would encourage anyone with information in relation to the New IRA to contact police."

The man was questioned under the Terrorism Act and was later released with a report to be prepared for the Public Prosecution Service.
