Police have seized suspected Class A and Class B drugs with an estimated street value of more than £40,000 during a search of a property in Belfast.

The search operation took place on Thursday night in the Short Strand area.

Chief Inspector John Sayers said: "A planned search of a property by local District Support Team officers resulted in suspect cocaine and herbal cannabis being seized.

"Officers arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of a number of offences including possession of a Class A controlled drug, possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply, possession of a Class B controlled drug and possession of a Class B controlled drug with intent to supply.

"He has since been released on bail, pending further enquiries".
