THE Cranberries have been shortlisted for best rock album at the Grammy Awards.

It is their first ever Grammy nomination and comes almost two years after the death of lead singer Dolores O'Riordan.

The Limerick band released the album 'In the End' earlier this year as a tribute to O'Riordan.

During the making of the album, guitarist Noel Hogan, bassist Mike Hogan, drummer Fergal Lawler used vocal demos recorded by O'Riordan before her sudden death in January 2018.

'In the End' has been nominated for a Grammy alongside albums by Bring Me The Horizon, Cage The Elephant, I Prevail and Rival Sons.

The Grammy Awards take place in Los Angeles in January and will be hosted by singer Alicia Keys.
