A MAN and two women were convicted at Craigavon Crown Court yesterday following the seizure of £400,000 worth of cannabis.

George Hamilton (49), from Co Antrim, was given a four-year jail sentence for importation and possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply, police said.

Vua Mitchell (30), from Belfast, and Linh Tran (34), from Glasgow, were convicted of importing a Class B drug.

Mitchell received a two-year jail sentence suspended for three years, while Tran was given a one-year prison sentence suspended for three years.

PSNI detective inspector Pete Mullan welcomed the sentences handed down, which he said followed the seizure of cannabis with an estimated street value of £400,000.

"This success is further evidence of PSNI’s continuing commitment to both preventing dangerous drugs from ending up in local communities and pursuing those intent on destroying lives through the supply of illicit drugs," he said.
