A MALE runner has been found dead after he was reported missing in the Mournes.
Mourne Mountain Rescue Team said they were called to the area around midday on Thursday.
"Following a request for assistance just after midday today, the team were involved in the search and subsequent recovery of a missing runner," a spokesman said in a Facebook post.
"In conjunction with local police and police air support, a total of 17 members responded and stood down at 5.30pm.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with family, friends and all involved today."
A police spokesman said officers attended the sudden death of a man on Newtown Road in Rostrevor on Thursday.
"A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course, however, the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time," he said.
