A FUNERAL directors' in Newry has said it is "absolutely disgusted and sickened" after one of its wake signs was stolen from outside a house.

The sign had been placed outside a property in Mourneview Park to direct mourners.

Pouchers Funeral Directors said the theft is "not only an attack on our family business that has been serving this community for over 32 years but it's an attack on our own community".

"At this incredibly tough time for the grieving community of residents, friends and family, this is definitely not what they need," they said in a post on Facebook.

"We would appeal for this to be returned immediately and for parents to have words with their children about this sort of disgusting behaviour."

The Co Down firm encouraged anyone with information to contact them or the police.
