BELFAST could be set to have its youngest ever lord mayor.

Sinn Féin's Órla Nic Biorna, who became a councillor in October, is tipped by council sources to be nominated for the role.

She was aged 19 when she was co-opted last year onto Belfast City Council to replace veteran republican Janice Austin.

This year is Sinn Fein's turn to select one of its 19 representatives for the annual lord mayor role.

Alliance's Emmet McDonough-Brown has already been selected by his party to become the next deputy lord mayor at a city hall meeting next week.
