Four men arrested in historical child sex abuse investigation

POLICE have arrested four men as part of an investigation into historical sexual abuse of children.

The men, aged 70, 55, 54 and 52 were arrested in the Newtownards, Lisburn, Newcastle and Downpatrick areas today.

Police said the men are being held in relation to allegations of serious historical sexual child abuse in Co Down.

The men have been taken to Antrim Police Station and are assisting police with their enquiries.

It is understood the arrests are not linked to the investigation into the crimes of the late paedophile priest Fr Malachy Finegan.
