A man was being questioned last night on suspicion of the murder of Co Tyrone woman Charlotte Murray.

The 46-year-old was arrested in Dungannon yesterday morning and taken to the town’s police station.

Ms Murray has not been seen since she was reported missing in May 2013.

The arrest comes after it emerged that the PSNI has carried out searches on open ground and woodland in the Moy area of Co Tyrone.

Police also seized a computer and several phones during a search of a house and a business in the village earlier this month.

Officers later confirmed they have carried out more than five searches of the area.

It is understood one was on land at the edge of the village on the Dungannon Road.

Originally from Omagh, Ms Murray had been living in the Moy area and was 34 at the time of her disappearance.

Her last contact with her family was in October or November 2012.

Her twin sister Denise has said her disappearance "is one of the most horrific experiences we have ever faced in our lives”.

Earlier this month the PSNI confirmed they are treating the case as murder and appealed for information about the victim's mobile phone and engagement ring.

Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan last night said: “Charlotte has been missing for five years and her family miss her and deserve and need to know what happened to her.”
