Children’s Heartbeat Trust are asking members of the public to host fundraising tea parties to mark World Heart Day.
As well as raising awareness of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), the most common birth defect among children born in Northern Ireland, it will raise funds to support the work of Children’s Heartbeat Trust’s supporting local children and young people born with CHD and their families.
The children’s charity wants individuals to organise a 'Hearty Tea Party' in workplaces, community centres, sports clubs or even in their own home on World Heart Day, Friday 29th September.
Lynn Cowan, Fundraiser at the Children’s Heartbeat Trust, said: “Around 200 babies are born with CHD each year in NI; many of which will undergo open heart surgery and need lifelong treatment, care and support.
“Holding a ‘Hearty Tea Party’ in your office, community centre or wherever you can plug in your kettle, will help to raise vital funds to support our work.
"We all love to relax with a cup of tea and cake, so why not raise some money for a worthy cause at the same time? Your Hearty Tea Party doesn’t have to be held on World Heart Day, it can be great fun at any time and all support no matter how big or small is greatly appreciated.”
Children’s Heartbeat Trust is a local charity supporting children and young people with heart disease and their families. The charity works closely with Clark Clinic at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children to ensure that children with heart disease and their families receive the best care, treatment and support possible.
