A WOMAN has been robbed by a man brandishing a suspected gun at St George's Market in Belfast.

The victim was working at a food outlet in the city centre market on Saturday when she was threatened at around 9am.

The man escaped with money from the till.

The woman was uninjured, but was left distressed following the armed robbery.

Police said the man was described as around 5ft 11in tall, of medium, stocky build and was wearing a dark hoodie, coat and woollen hat.

A spokesman said: "We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident. A female member of staff was left distressed by the incident but did not require hospital treatment."
