A BROTHER of former DUP special adviser Stephen Brimstone has also been a Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) claimant.
Party leader Arlene Foster confirmed on Monday that Stephen Brimstone, who last month resigned as a 'Spad' in the Executive Office, availed of the controversial scheme.
The Irish News also revealed last week that a brother of current DUP adviser Andrew Crawford, who was Mrs Foster's adviser at the Department of Enterprise, is a claimant.
Now investigative website The Detail has confirmed that Lakeland Karting in Kesh, Co Fermanagh, which Arlene Foster officially opened in March 2012, is a recipient of the RHI.
The director of the business is Aaron Brimstone, a brother of Stephen Brimstone and husband of former DUP councillor Alison Brimstone who replaced Arlene Foster on Fermanagh council in 2010 but left in 2014.
According to Waterford-based renewable energy company Enerpower, it installed a wood pellet boiler at Lakeland Karting under the RHI scheme.
There is no suggestion of wrongdoing involving Enerpower or any of the RHI claimants.
When The Detail contacted Lakeland Karting, both Aaron Brimstone and his wife Alison declined to comment. The DUP was also asked for a comment but failed to provide one.
Stephen Brimstone has also not given details of his application to the scheme and the DUP has said there is no connection to his departure from his party role.
There is no confirmation of when Lakeland Karting applied to join the RHI, but the case study on the Enerpower website is dated as June 2016.
