POLICE have been investigating reports of a suspect device in south Armagh.

Police said yesterday evening they had received "several reports" of a suspicious item in the Hall Road area of Lislea.

They advised people to avoid the area while investigations were carried out.

Sinn Féin councillor Garath Keating said it was a "concerning development".

"I would ask people to take the police advice in terms of travel restrictions in the area and hopefully it can be resolved as quickly as possible, with as little disruption to the local residents as possible," he said
