A 36-YEAR-old man has been arrested after the discovery of a woman's body at a flat in Lurgan.

The 31-year-old woman's body was found at a property on Victoria Street.

Police said a postmortem will be carried out.

UUP councillor Colin McCusker said news of the woman's death had come "as a complete shock to the Lurgan community".

The SDLP's Dolores Kelly said she understood the woman who died was "very popular and outgoing"."There is a great deal of shock and sadness. She was loved by many and it is such a brutal end to such a beautiful young life," she said.The apartment block where the young woman's body was found was a former old linen mill, which in recent years has been converted into flats and a few businesses.The woman is believed to be originally from the north Lurgan area and was well-known in the community.Tributes posted on social media have described her as "bubbly, fun-loving".One friend wrote "honestly can't believe what has happened, such a lovely girl".Another pal said the young woman was "so bubbly, fun-loving and full of life, thoughts and prayers with all of her family and friends".
