Three people injured after garden attack by group armed with weapons

Three people have sustained head injuries in a “terrifying” attack when a group of men armed with weapons set upon them in the garden of a house in Co Down.

The incident in the Meadow Close area of Newtownards was reported to police at around 10.25pm on Saturday.

The victims, two women and a man, were in the garden of the property when the men entered and assaulted them.

”They all sustained head injuries as a result of the attack and required hospital treatment,” a PSNI spokesperson said.

”Thankfully, the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. However, this was a terrifying ordeal for those involved.



”Our investigation is now underway to determine exactly what happened, a motive, and who was involved.”I would appeal to anyone who may be able to assist with our investigation or has CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage, to contact us on 101, quoting reference 1927 11/05/24.”

They added: ”We are especially keen to hear from anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Meadow Close area between 10pm and shortly before 10.20pm to make contact with police.”
