Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following Antrim stabbing

Police investigating a report of a stabbing in Antrim have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder.

The report of a man being stabbed in the chest in the Oakburn area of the town was made shortly before 1pm on Monday.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment for injuries which are said to be serious, but not life-threatening at this time.”

A man in his twenties was arrested on Monday on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of a Class B controlled drug.



He remained in custody on Monday evening, as police officers remained at the scene of the incident.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or who has any information which might assist us with our enquiries, to get in touch. The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 871 of 25/03/24,” the PSNI spokesperson added.
