A Belfast man is to stand trial accused of trying to blackmail 16 women into sending him sexual videos and images.

Christopher Morrow (27), of Rochester Road in the east of the city, appeared at Belfast Crown Court on Thursday to be arraigned on 18 charges.

Standing in the dock dressed in a grey checked suit, white shirt and green tie, Morrow entered not guilty pleas to all 16 counts of blackmail.

The charges span a four month period between January 14 and April 10 2023.

It is alleged that he made unwarranted demands with menaces for sexual videos and images from the 16 individual women.

Morrow further pleaded not guilty to harassing a female on dates between February 12 and April 3 2023.

He also denied possessing an extreme pornographic image on April 10 2023.

Defence counsel Charles MacCreanor said a defence statement had already been lodged with the court.

Prosecution barrister Bobbie-Leigh Herdman said witness availability would be a problem for some of the complainants if a trial was held between now and the summer.

She added that given there are 16 complainants in the case, the trial is expected to last two weeks.

Judge Donna McColgan KC set the trial date for September 30 2024, and the case will be reviewed next month.

At the request of Mr MacCreanor, the defendant was released on continuing bail ahead of his trial. As part of his bail conditions, Morrow must not contact any of the complainants.
