Man (56) extradited to Republic to face child sex offences trial

The PSNI has extradited a 56-year-old man rom the north to the Republic to stand trial for alleged child sex offences.

The man was arrested by officers in Belfast on February 5, and was extradited on Tuesday.

He has been charged in the Republic with communication to facilitate sexual exploitation of a child, and attempting to meet a child for sexual exploitation.

Meanwhile two men were extradited to Romania on Tuesday to serve prison sentences for traffic offences, with a 44-year-old detained in Dungannon on December 30 due to serve one-year and four months, and a 47-year-old arrested at Belfast International Airport on January 31 set to serve five years and three months.
