Event returns to Stormont’s Great Hall on January 20

Irish News columnist Alex Kane is among speakers lined up for an upcoming day of TEDx talks at Stormont.

The political commentator will join a range of guests including Co Monaghan singer/songwriter Jamie Duffy, mental health campaigner Matthew Taylor, and marine specialist Heidi McIlvenny for the inspirational talks event on January 20.

The theme of the event is ‘Restore’ and will be compared by former BBC journalist and broadcaster Sarah Travers.

Speakers will share innovative ideas, inspiring stories and thought-provoking discussions on how to rejuvenate communities and “rekindle hope for a more sustainable and harmonious future”.

TedxStormont is returning later this month to Stormont's Great Hall.

Previous TEDxStormont speakers include Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody, astrophysicist Jocelyn Bell Burnell, and late writer and activist Lyra McKee.

Eva Grosman, curator of TEDxStormont 2024, said: “We are excited to be welcoming some of the most inspiring and esteemed individuals from various backgrounds at this year’s TEDxStormont.

“This year’s event will allow us to engage with speakers who are leading the change in restoring ecosystems, relationships, and societal well-being.

“Taking place in the historic backdrop of the Great Hall at Stormont, together we will have the opportunity to learn, adapt and empower ourselves to restore balance in our lives and the world around us.”
