A suspected historic munition discovery has prompted a security alert in Co Derry.
The discovery was made on Monday in the Point Road area of Magilligan.
The road, on which Magilligan Prison is located, was closed on Monday evening.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “A road closure and cordons are in place due to the discovery of what is believed to be a historic piece of munition.
“Motorists and members of the public are asked to avoid the area. A further update will be provided in due course.”
