Hard-working couple from Co Fermanagh to be revealed as £3.8m lottery winners

The couple won the jackpot following the Lotto draw last Saturday

A “hardworking” couple from Co Fermanagh are celebrating after winning close to £4m in the Lotto draw last Saturday.

The couple, who won £3.8m, will be revealed at a special event in the Culloden Hotel in Holywood this morning.

According to the National Lottery, a total of 174 millionaires from Northern Ireland have been created since the game began in 1994. This includes 36 in the last three years.

Belfast was named earlier this year as the second luckiest city in Britain and Northern Ireland. Birmingham and its hinterland was number one with 205 winners over the near three decades while Glasgow came in at number three with 158.

The largest lottery win in the north was Frances and Patrick Connolly, from Moira in Co Down They won £114.9 million in the EuroMillions draw on New Year’s Day in 2019.

A retired teacher and businessman, the couple, both in their 50s, have given half the money away since their big win, to family and to charity.





The couple, who were renting a house in Moira when they won the huge jackpot, moved to England to be closer to their daughters. They bought a five-bedroom bungalow in Hartlepool, County Durham.
