Drugs have been seized during a search operation targeting the South East Antrim UDA faction.

Suspected Class A drugs and related paraphernalia were seized during a “proactive” search at a property in the Salia Avenue area of Carrickfergus on Thursday, which was carried out by the Paramilitary Crime Task Force.

Police say the operation was part of a “ongoing investigation into criminality linked to the South East Antrim UDA”.

A spokesman for the PSNI said: “As a result of the search, a quantity of suspected Class A drugs was seized along with drugs-related paraphernalia.

“Our enquiries are continuing.”
