Man assaulted in Co Tipperary dies in hospital

The man died in hospital following the assault on Thursday.

A man who was assaulted in Co Tipperary earlier this week has died in hospital.

The incident happened at a premises in Dundrum on Thursday.

The man, aged in his 60s, were taken to Tipperary University Hospital to be treated for his injuries.



On Sunday, a Garda spokesperson said he has since died.

“A post-mortem will be carried out today by the State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster,” they said.

“The scene of this incident is currently held for technical examination.

“A man, aged in his 60s, was arrested as part of this investigation and detained at a Garda station in South Tipperary under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He has since been charged.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
