Man, 33, dies in hospital after car collides with two pedestrians in Ballina

A young girl who was also injured in the incident has been discharged from hospital.

A man has died after he suffered serious injuries when a car collided with two pedestrians in Co Mayo on Tuesday.

The man, aged 33, was seriously injured in the incident which happened on Lord Edward Street in Ballina.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead in Mayo University Hospital on Wednesday evening.

The local coroner has been informed, and arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination.

A young girl who was also injured in the incident has been discharged from hospital.

Following the completion of examinations by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, the road was reopened to traffic.

Gardai have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the collision to come forward.
