Prestigious projects in running for Rics Awards

The Sperrins Sculptural Trail in Omagh is named in two categories in the Rics Awards

Thirteen of the north’s most impressive recent building projects, which include a leisure centre, a community hub and business enterprise facility, have been named as finalists in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) 2024 Northern Ireland Awards.

The awards, which will be judged by an expert panel,showcase the most inspirational initiatives and developments in land, real estate, construction and infrastructure, recognising outstanding achievement, teamwork and companies.

They are competing across five categories – residential development, community benefit, heritage, public sector, refurbishment-revitalisation.

The full list of short listed entries are:

  • Queens Business School’s Student Hub, Belfast (public sector project)
  • Custom House, Belfast (heritage project)
  • Bruce Street, Belfast (residential development)
  • Templemore Baths, Belfast (heritage project)
  • St Comgall’s – Ionad Eileen Howell, Belfast (refurbishment/revitalisation project)
  • 100 GPS Dedicated Youth Space, Belfast (refurbishment/revitalisation project)
  • Sean Dolan’s Creevagh Heights, Derry (community benefit project)
  • Waterside Shared Village, Derry (community benefit project)
  • New Gate Arts & Culture Centre, Derry (community benefit project)
  • The Workhouse Enniskillen (heritage project AND refurbishment/revitalisation project)
  • Sperrins Sculptural Trail, Omagh (community benefit project AND public sector project)

Michael Hannaway, chair of the NI Rics Awards judging panel, said: “It is inspiring to see such inspirational projects in Northern Ireland short listed for these awards.

“Companies still have the opportunity to enter an additional six categories – to be judged nationally – and have until April 26 to submit their entry.

Among the national categories is a new Ambassador of the Year Award.
