A RENTED property in Co Antrim has been seized as part of a probe into republican paramilitary group Action Against Drugs.

The property on Whitewell Road in Newtownabbey is the first to be seized as part of a Paramilitary Crime Task Force (PCTF) investigation.

While the owner of the property is not believed to be directly involved with the group, the National Crime Agency alleged that the building was bought with the proceeds of mortgage fraud, tax evasion and money laundering.

The PCTF, which includes officers from the PSNI, Revenue and Customs and the National Crime Agency, was set up to tackle paramilitary and organised crime.

The PSNI's head of Criminal Investigation Branch, Detective Chief Superintendent Tim Mairs, said: "This action demonstrates the strength of the three agencies working together as part of the Paramilitary Crime Task Force and their commitment to tackling the harm inflicted on communities by these individuals and groups".
