PSNI seize drugs worth £70,000 in Banbridge

TWO men are due to appear in court after police seized drugs worth an estimated £70,000.

The drugs were discovered on Friday night in Banbridge, Co Down, when police stopped a Volkswagen Golf on the Newry Road.

During a search of the vehicle, police recovered suspected Class A and Class B drugs, along with suspected ammunition and several electronic devices.

Two men, aged in their 40s, were arrested and charged with offences including the importation of Class A and Class B controlled drugs and other related offences.

They are due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court today.

Meanwhile police in Belfast have seized 30,000 suspected Xanax tablets during a search of a property in Belfast.

A large quantity of suspected Class B drugs and drug paraphernalia were also seized during the raid at the property in the Newington Street area on on Friday night.
